Experience

Jeanne's desk, and a place for kids to do artJeanne began working professionally with children in Denver, Colorado, where she worked primarily with inner-city low income children who had experienced early childhood trauma.  She also worked closely with her clients’ parents, supporting them in providing for their children’s emotional needs.

Jeanne moved to Edmonton, Alberta in 2004, where she became an associate with Psymetry Psychological and Counselling, Inc.  She is now in private practice in Edmonton, and continues to work with traumatised children and their caregivers.

She also works with families who have kids with challenging behaviour.

Jeanne has taught psychology and counselling at undergraduate and graduate schools in Edmonton and Denver as an adjunct instructor.  Her courses include Theories of Personality, Integration of Counselling and Theology, Psychology and Christian Thought, and Social Psychology.  She is now on the training team of the Alberta Children's Trauma Centre, presenting workshops  on childhood trauma.   These workshops are tailored to meet the needs of educators, foster care workers, social workers, and others who are in contact with traumatised children.

Before receiving her Master’s degree, Jeanne worked as a First Aid and CPR instructor and instructor-trainer for the American Red Cross.  She has also spent many years in professional child care, both as a nanny and as a day care provider.
